Walking on the crest with the view of the island in the background
Turning your back to the crystal-clear sea, a staircase, that looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale, invites you to start a hike that will surprise you! Go up these stairs that used to link the “Bergeggine hamlets” and you will find yourself in the largest cork forest in Western Liguria.Once reached the top of Monte Rocchetto, an amazing viewpoint is waiting for you, where once stood Forte S. Elena that then got destroyed by the explosion of the powder magazine in 1921. Keep walking on the seaside through a mixed forest along the slopes of MS Elena up to Gola S. Elena, a crossroads dating back to the Iron Age.
The signpost indicates the roman road. From here, you will enjoy a striking view of the gulf of the island for the entire hike. The ascent to M. Mao is a bit challenging, but it is worth all the effort because its 440 meters of altitude give you an incredible panoramic viewpoint.
After Passo Stretto and after passing a grassy field, a dirt road allows you to enjoy the view up to Colle della Berba crossroads, only climbing up Bric Colombino. The signs lead to Vezzi Portio, where you reach the beautiful Santa Libera chapel. Going towards Magnone, from where you go up to Bric dei Monti, you’ll find another panoramic viewpoint you cannot miss.
A little track goes down into the woods where you are surrounded by holm oaks, downy oaks, and fragrant Mediterranean shrubs: this track will take you to the SP delle Manie. Now head to Bric dei Crovi and you will enjoy its beautiful panorama. Continue towards Capo Noli intoxicated by the smell of the aromatic herbs around you and come down to Noli by the cliffs filled with nature and history.
