A walk through history on Finale Ligure stone slabs and Iron Age incisions.
A walking along the ancient communal road that connects Finale and Orco, with little variation in altitude, leads up to the "Ciappi" where you can find slabs of Finale stone adorned with numerous rock engravings from various periods and basins. The San Bernardino Plateau is part of the impressive Finale Plateau system, which formed through the process of karstification. As rainwater seeps into the limestone rock created by the Pietra del Finale (Finale stone), it shapes a stunning landscape of small hills and valleys.
A charming permanent crib in the forest is set up in a small shelter under the rock. From here in a short time we reach Ciappo dei Ceci, the first suggestive rocky slab; continuing through the forest after about 1.5 km we reach Ciappo delle Conche surrounded by small panoramic hillocks.
The rock engravings feature a variety of elements, including letters, crosses, human figures, stylized maps, and small channels with basins ("conche").
