Balcone dei Balzi Rossi trail
- Status Open
- Area Bardineto
Panoramic ring around Bardineto.
The route starts at the Medieval Castle and runs along the north-eastern part of the municipality for about 23 km, touching on its main sights and attractions. It reaches two primary peaks of the Ligurian Alps, Bric Agnellino and Monte Carmo, as well as three minor peaks: Monte Grosso, Bric Avicello and Bric Pagliarina. Along the route, which is always very scenic and spectacular, you can visit the shepherds' huts/shelters in Cormoruzzi, the Cascina Cormore area, still partially in use, and the splendid Acquetta forest, which represents the southern part of the Melogno beech forest, one of the largest in Europe. In the central part of the forest, the beautiful Lago Rotondo, an original dolina with water, is visible, while in the highest part of the area is the Balzi Rossi ridge, which gives its name to the trail. After a beautiful stretch at altitude, the summit of Monte Carmo is reached.
