Camporotondo loop trail
- Status Open
- Area Finalese
Merged with nature between archeology and a bit of mystery.
Certainly, one of the most beautiful hikes in the Finale area for those who have an interest in archaeological sites. It is worthwhile checking out the Megalithic Enclosure of Camporotondo: a mysterious circular enclosure over 150 metres in diameter, bounded by triangular-shaped stone slabs embedded in the ground. Its meaning and which civilization built it, are still an unsolved mystery today.
Also, don't skip “Ciappo dei Ceci” and “Ciappo delle Conche”: Pietra del Finale (Finale stone) slabs, with engraved petroglyphs from different eras as well as some "conche", aka square, round and rectangular hollows which are linked to or fed by small canals that give the rock an unusual appearance.
Both Ciappi and Camporotondo, due to the mysterious atmosphere that surrounds them, manage to give off an incredible charm to hikers who venture on the plateau. On the way, you come across several rock shelters, a testimony to the living conditions of our ancestors.
The main ones, which are still quite evident on the trail, are Casa del Vacchè and Ca' Cerisola.
Also, worth a little detour the tiny village of Lacremà (Calvisio Vecchia in dialect), with the Church of San Cipriano overlooking the Pia valley.
