Excursion to Rocca Barbena

Loop trail to the summit of Rocca Barbena, the "little dolomite" of Bardineto, passing through beech forests and enjoying splendid views.
The route begins by passing by the small church of San Nicolò, and then follows communal trail number 3 flush with the ridge that leads to the Nicampi rest area. Here to proceed further in a southerly direction until reaching the slopes of Mount Subanco, from where a beautiful stretch of Alta Via leads up to the Colletto Banco area. Just past Colletto, take the right-hand branch marked as an Alta Via link that, developing on the seaward side, allows you to reach the summit of Rocca Barbena while enjoying spectacular views. Continuing along the path you descend to Colle Scravaion, where after crossing the provincial road you resume the Alta Via heading north. Near the end of the asphalt road you join the dirt road on the right that, past the Sciorta farmstead, returns to the village crossing the Muschieto valley.
