Monte Carmo and the Finalese “highlands”
Waking up before dawn is certainly tough, but it's an experience we recommend if you want to make the most of this second day of trekking. Starting from Rifugio Pian delle Bosse and following a ridge path, in just over an hour we reach the summit of Monte Carmo, at 1,385 meters.
After admiring the sunrise and enjoying a 360-degree view from Corsica to the Alps, our route continues towards Bric Agnellino and into the State Forests of Barbottina and Melogno, splendid beech forests that offer shade even on the hottest days.
The stage ends at Rifugio Pian dei Corsi where another delicious dinner awaits us. The refuge also houses a Forest Nursery (Vivaio Forestale), an ideal place for a regenerating rest immersed in greenery.
