- Area Finalese
A circular route of cultural and historical interest, passing through the castles of Finalborgo and extending along the “via del Purchin” in the limestone area of the Rocca di Perti.
From the Piazza del Tribunale in Finalborgo, you can start your walk along the historic Strada Beretta, also known as the Strada della Regina. This road was designed in 1666 to connect the Marquisate of Finale to the Duchy of Milan, and it evokes centuries of history. As you proceed through lush Mediterranean maquis vegetation, you will reach Forte San Giovanni, an imposing 17th-century Spanish fortress that dominates the surrounding area. After visiting the fortress, you can turn left to reach the majestic Castel Gavone with its iconic and mysterious “diamond tower,” which was erected around 1188.
Walking among the olive trees, you will suddenly come across the Church of the 5 Belfries, an architectural jewel made of Finale stone that stands out against the sky. Continuing along the path, you can witness climbers taking on the challenges of the cliffs, and eventually, you will arrive at the “Testa d'Elefante” rock viewpoint. From there, you can enjoy a spectacular panorama of the bay of Loano and its surroundings.
The route continues downhill along the slope of the Utra Valley, passing by the striking Bric della Croce Cave, and finally reaching the picturesque village of Cianassi.
To return to Finalborgo, you can go through the picturesque Porta Romana, thus completing a route that combines history, nature, and breathtaking landscapes.
